School Non-Attendance Support

As a school, we understand that there may be times when your child finds attending school difficult. There are many ways in which we can support you and offer further guidance:

  • Discuss the child's difficulties or concerns with your child's class teacher to see if there are any simple steps that can be put into place.
  • Contact Mrs Jakeman (deputy@whittington.staffs.sch.uk) as she will be able to offer additional support and signpost to any additional services as needed.

We have been working alongside Staffordshire Educational Psychology Service to develop ways in which we can support families further in this area. Below you will find a booklet that we are implementing in our school to support pupils who find attending school a challenge.

Through this resource, we are able to work alongside families to identify pupils' strengths and areas that need support and gain views from the child and their parents/ carers then create an action plan so that we can improve the child's well-being and enable them to improve their attendance. Below is the introductory booklet which outlines the information and guidance for following this process.
